OOK succeeded in contracting a professional painter for the painting of the backdrop: Christina Brüne of Falkensee (Berlin). During the first days of January 2008 she is making all sorts of ricks and sprains in order to paint sky and Harz mountains and forests onto the backdrop which is rather far from the layout edge at some points. Contrary to the BAE II in Bremen there will be different "weathers" at different points of the layout: blue sky with nice white clouds here , gray overcast sky there and a rain carrying front at another point. There are more than 150 feet of backdrop to be painted, a real big job for a painter who is used to produce paintings of less than 10 square feet. |

As the BAE is (unfortunately) not always the most important thing in our lives two members of the BAE-club had to cancel their paticipation fort his day. So there were five (OOK included) members who were working at the different construction sites: turnout construction in Sonnenberg, lenthening of the LCL-track in Schluft, scenery construction at the Eselsschlucht (donkey gorge) as well as spatula jobs at the backdrop.

The backdop is nearly complete and has to be prepared for painting. Stefan2 (left) is building up scenery behind the Schlufterhütte (foundry). There the Sieber river has to "emerge" out of the backdrop. No easy job. Rainer (center) has evendently got a tip that the stuff he needs is to be in that crate. And Michael is getting into a position for more spatula action at the backdop.

The still open hatch in the scenery spared Michael to get onto his knees again which would have had to be on the tracks of Königskrug.

There is nothing like supervision. Rainer is checking the work of Michael and Henrik. Do the points close as they should?

Even if you take the hobby seriously you can have a lot of fun with model railroading. Here layout owner Otto O. Kurbjuweit and guest worker Rainer Schmitt are happy with the work they have achieved during the construction session of november 18, 2006.
